Burmilla Breed History

The Burmilla breed was bred 1981. A breeder in the United Kingdom bred a hybrid variety of Burmese (female) and a male Persian chinchilla. This this was totally an accident and made breeders local breeders very upset, but only for a short time instead of being disappointed they realized they had a new breed of cat which was very sharp and a good looking cat.

When the breed starting to get more recognition for its features and traits the Burmilla breed started to catch people’s attention around the globe started to welcome this breed. Breeding techniques which were initially in the United Kingdom in early 1980’s then started to  flourished to various parts of Australia, Canada, etc in the early 1990s.

The Burmilla breed won best of breed championship status in 1990. The size of the Burmilla is similar to the Burmese breed, they also have a medium seized body. The color and the type of fur are determined by the dominating genes of the parents. They behave like a kitten even once they have matured into a adulthood, they are very soft and polite in nature.

They are a wonderful companion,  playful all the time and are easy going with all the family members especially with children.
