The Burmilla breed is a newer breed, dating back to 1981, and was officialy recognized by the GCCF in 1995. These little bundles of joy are a cross between the Chinchilla Persian and Burmese. The name is an amalgamation of the names of it’s parent breeds. Breeders focus on this Burmilla’s unique physical traits such as their compact, muscular body type (very similar to their Burmese cousins), and their radiantly tipped short-hair, a trait from their Lavander Chinchilla ancestors. Burmilla’s coats range from Argentato\Shaded, Brown Tipped, Black Shaded, Lilac, Chocolate and Light Chocolate Tipped and require brushing weekly to maintain their stellar coats.

They thrive in all types of climates. Burmilla cats have distinctive faces that are round with short muzzles. They will grow to be medium size, around eight to ten pounds.
Burmillas are prized for their affectionate personalities. They love to sit on their owner’s lap and have their hair brushed or petted for hours on end. They are one of the better breeds to have around children because of their mild temperament. Paired with the fact that they shed very little hair and do not aggravate most allergies this breed a welcome addition to any family in search of a new member!
